According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2012 the average rate of Divorce across the United States in 2009 was 3.4 per 1,000 population. 15 out of 22 Conservative States had a higher than average rate of Divorce (68% of Conservative States) versus 12 out of 29 Liberal States that had a higher than average rate of Divorce (41% of Liberal States). The lowest rate of Divorce in the country is found in Massachusetts with 2.2 per 1,000 population.
